En. Zainal Abidin bin Tukang is the founder of the firm. He graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2000. He spent the term of his pupillage with Messrs Hamid Sultan & Rakan-Rakan in Kuala Lumpur. He was involved in preparation of the then Court Of Appeal Judge Yang Arif En. Hamid Sultan Abu Backer law book (JANAB KEY) which is now widely used by legal practitioners and law students. He was retained as legal assistant in the firm and was in charge of the litigation department both for banking and personal injury claim. He did a lot of trial cases for corporate banking claim and running down matters.

He has appeared for civil litigation claim in Federal Court and Court of Appeal.

 

He has attended numerous seminar, talk and conference on Islamic banking. He was also on various occasions invited by the banks to give talks and seminars on legal matters.

joined Messrs Abd Aziz Rahim & Co. as managing partner for Kuala Lumpur branch. He maintained the high standard of service with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad and in addition to that Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, AmBank (M) Berhad and CIMB Bank Berhad listed under his portfolio.

returns to his hometown in Sabah joining Messrs Antin Zakaria & Rauf. He joined as a partner and later setting up his own branch in KK Times Square with his legal associates. He continues giving legal service to Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad and was later become the anchor panel for Agro Bank in Sabah for both litigation and conveyancing matters.

2015

he set up another practice in Sandakan, Sabah to service Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad both litigation and conveyancing matters. The firm was appointed for panel of all Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad’s branches in Sabah.

Mrs. Nur Azia Nadia Binti Abdul Soud was a Legal Associate with Messrs Antin Zakaria & Rauf KK Times Square and Sandakan branch. She graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2012 and 2013 with double degrees in Civil and Shariah laws. She was also the recipient of Rector List in LLB. Shariah (Hons).

She is now partner-in-charge of Islamic Banking with us. Her passion for Shariah Law in particular Islamic financing demonstrated in her attending seminar, talk conference in Islamic banking namely Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Law Conference 2014, International Islamic Banking and Finance Law Conference 2016.

She has conducted and appeared in various civil proceedings and also registered as a National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) lawyer in Sabah and appeared in various criminal proceedings.

She also on numerous occasions invited to give talks and seminars to banking institutions on Manzili Islamic Home Financing procedure.

Admitted as an Advocate at the High Court of Sabah on 14th July 2014. Her capability, credibility and good character showed during her pupillage period enabled her to be offered position as a Legal Associate in Messrs Antin Zakaria & Rauf.

On 1st July 2017, she was admitted as Syar’ie Counsel in Sabah.

EMILY JARIAN

Mrs. Emily Jarian was called to the Malaysian Bar in June 2012. She obtained her Bachelor of Legal Studies in 2006 and her Bachelor of Law (LL.B) (Hons) degree from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 2010.

In 2013, she moved to Messrs Soo &Co where she practiced as a Legal Assistant in corporate and litigation department. Subsequently, she joined Messrs Robert Devan &Co in 2014 where she was primarily responsible for handling and assisting senior counsels in complex general litigation matters. Thereafter, in 2016, she joined Messrs Seah & Co as a Partner and was primarily in charge of banking litigation and foreclosure proceedings.

 

She had ceased practice as Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2016 and subsequently, she pursued her passion in law by commencing her pupillage with Messrs Antin Zakaria & Rauf where she was exposed to mainly civil litigation, drafting of pleadings, general legal research.

 

She is now partner of Zainal & Associates and Heads the Litigation Department.

JAMES PATRICK

Mr. James Bin Patrick was born in Kota Belud. He graduated with the Bachelor of Laws (Hons) Degree in 1989 and possess as professional degree of Master in Business Administration in Strategic Organisational Resources Management (Human Resource Management) in 2007.

His career in legal practice, civil service and corporate private sector has provided him a wide spectrum of invaluable knowledge and experience. His earlier legal practice concentrates on general conveyancing and litigation with a special emphasis on corporate and banking institutions within the context of Sabah.

 

In civil service, he advises the Management, Board of Directors and Government Ministry in port operation, human resource, engineering, management and disciplinary matters just name a few and keeps a strong and steady relationship with the State Attorney General Chambers.

 

He also monitors legal cases by penal of lawyers against port users and defaulters of port facilities. His involvement and role as the sole legal advisor for port gives him a rare experience beyond legal matters per-se. His involvement in the whole privatisation process of the port which span a period of over 10 years. It is during this period that his rare expertise was put into use with his involvement in almost all committees and sub-committees in all levels of the Government. He was also the person in charge of preparing and successful enacting of various state legislations and subsidiary legislations involving the port.

James was certified as a trainer under The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) program in 2000 and had developed and present many in-house training modules. Since then his training and skills as a speaker and motivator takes him beyond the industry and his profession and had since then been invited to give many talks and presenter for many topics, spiritual being the latest interest.

He is now partner of Zainal & Associates.

He then joined the State Civil Service as the Legal Advisor for Sabah Ports Authority.

He joined the privatised entity as the Assistant Legal Manager for Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd (SPSB).

Return to practice by setting his own firm, M/s JP Chambers of Law, with Tuaran as his base.
